Key Companion – Wooden Scale and Chord Finder for Music Theory Practice
Bring music theory to life with the Key Companion, a hands-on teaching tool that makes scales, chords, and intervals instantly visible, understandable, and interactive. Whether you are introducing the circle of fifths, breaking down chord progressions, or helping students internalize interval relationships, this studio-favorite tool turns abstract theory into something tangible and fun.
Two Sliding Bars. One Powerful Visual
The Key Companion includes two custom sliders that work together to provide a full view of major and minor diatonic scales, chord functions, and interval relationships.
The scale bar displays both the major and minor scales in any key. It highlights the diatonic notes and shows Roman numeral chord functions underneath—helping students instantly connect the I, ii, iii, IV, V, vi, and vii° structure.
The interval bar allows students to explore and count intervals directly on the scale. With built-in labels for M2, m3, M3, P4, P5, M6, m6, m7, and M7, students can track interval distances and compare interval qualities visually.
From scale discovery and theory analysis to warm-ups, songwriting, and improvisation—this one tool supports an incredible range of learning moments across ages and skill levels.
